1.Position Indication Function:
Displays the real-time instantaneous position of the hoisting container in the shaft, enabling the operator to clearly determine whether the container is ascending, descending, or stopped, as well as its specific location within the shaft.
2.Deceleration Warning Function:
When the hoisting container reaches a certain distance from the shaft mouth or shaft bottom (typically the deceleration point), the depth indicator activates audible and visual alarms to alert the operator to prepare for deceleration and automatically engages deceleration protection.
3.Overwind Protection Function:
This is its most critical safety feature. If the hoisting container overshoots the normal stopping position (shaft mouth or shaft bottom) and continues to move—i.e., an "overwind" occurs—the depth indicator triggers the overwind protection switch, automatically cuts off the hoist's safety circuit, and initiates emergency braking to prevent serious accidents such as container collision or crashing.
4.Speed Limit Protection Function:
In conjunction with devices like the tachogenerator, some depth indicators can display the actual operating speed of the hoisting container and compare it with the designed safe speed curve. In case of overspeeding, it participates in overspeed protection.
5.Depth Memory and Reference Function:
Provides operational guidance for the operator, such as indicating at which level the container should stop in multi-level hoisting systems.
