(1) Small size, light weight, compact structure, high transmission power, and high load-bearing capacity; This feature is determined by internal factors such as the structure of planetary gear transmission: ① power splitting ② reasonable application of internal meshing ③ coaxial transmission device.
(2) Large transmission ratio; As long as the type and gear matching scheme of planetary transmission are appropriately selected, a large transmission ratio can be obtained using a few gears. In planetary mechanisms primarily used for transmitting motion rather than as power transmission, their transmission ratios can reach several thousand. In addition, planetary gear transmission can achieve the synthesis and decomposition of motion, as well as complex movements such as stepped and continuously variable transmission, due to the fact that all three of its components can be transmitted.
(3) High transmission efficiency; Due to the symmetrical split transmission structure adopted by planetary gear transmission, which has several uniformly distributed planetary gears, the action is balanced with the reaction force in the center wheel and arm bearings, which is conducive to improving transmission efficiency. With appropriate selection of transmission type and reasonable structural arrangement, its efficiency can reach 0.97-0.99.
(4) Smooth movement, strong resistance to impact and vibration; Due to the use of several identical planetary gears evenly distributed around the central wheel, the inertial forces of the planetary gears and the rotating arm can be balanced with each other.
